Today Marie-Claude Bourque blogged about Desmond Morris’ twelve stages of intimacy, and listed them all. For romance writers, this is a great progression to follow, but I found myself wondering if I had ever created characters that followed this precise order.

Something about the intimacy of “head to head” seems more potent after sexual trysts rather than before and in dark paranormals, it seems to me that some of the later stages of sexual intimacy occur before the true emotional intimacy and that perhaps Desmond Morris had simplified things a bit too much.
