Okay, so it’s not just ancient Greek civilization that interests me. I confess to a certain preference for the history and lore of Western classics, but a few years ago, I had one of the most incredible experiences of my life attempting to climb the ruins at Xunantunich, in Belize. Ever since then, I’ve been fascinated by the the ancient Mayan civilization.

I stumbled across this news article today, explaining how mysterious ruins that they’ve found in the hills points to a catastrophic and sudden collapse of the Mayan Empire rather than a slow decline. I can’t wait to see what else they’ll find!
