It’s Not Easy Being Green!

Friday, March 16th, 2012

The Irish have lots of paranormal legends and myths that would make lovely stories. Unfortunately, I don’t write about any of them.

However, in honor of St. Patrick, who helped rid the Isle of snakes, I’m offering up a free digital copy of Midnight Medusa, the very first installment of my Mythica Series.

PLUS We have TWO Grand Prizes for TWO different winners!
Grand Prize 1: Winner’s Choice of a Kindle Fire or Nook Tablet
Grand Prize 2: Winner’s Choice of a $90 Amazon or Barnes&Noble
Meanwhile, I like to bring vivid senses to life in my writing. To that end, I sometimes play little association games. Since it’s St. Patrick’s day, now’s a good time to play that creative game with you–my readers! So, the idea here is to think of the word GREEN and tell me the first thought that comes to mind. The only rule is that you can’t repeat anything that’s been said before. So, I’ll start:

GRASS

How you can win?

  1. Like my Facebook Page and post below that you’ve done so.
  2. If you don’t have a Facebook account, you can still win by playing the game above and listing the first non-repeating thought that comes to mind when you hear the word green.
  3. While you’re here, why not pick up a free copy of The Knife’s Edge, my historical fantasy erotic romance.

Legalese: Contest open to U.S. residents only because I can’t ship foodstuff outside the country. Contest open only to those over 18+. Winner will be chosen at random from qualifying entries sometime shortly after St. Patrick’s day. Contest may be cancelled by host for any reason and sponsor will not be responsible for technical glitches, unavailability of chocolate potatoes, delays in choosing a winner or other similar problems. Contest void where prohibited.

Siren Song wins 2011 CataRomance Reviewer’s Choice Award!

Tuesday, February 14th, 2012

Wow, I couldn’t be more thrilled at the good news today!

The folks over at CataRomance have awarded my steamy novella, Siren Song, a 2011 Reviewer’s Choice Award. Based on Greek mythology, this novella is about a modern day siren who falls in love with a Naval Officer. Like all the parts of the Mythica Series, the story revolves around the horrors of war and how love helps heal those wounds.

One of the first things I remember about writing Siren Song is how uncooperative my heroine was. She was was supposed to be a super-smart-mouthed diva, a hard ass, a bitchy queen who would try to eat up the hero and spit him out. Given her troubled past, she had every reason to be walled up and in need of rescue.

But Chloe had a thing or two to teach me while I was writing. Sure, she had a bad past. But she didn’t take it out on others. In spite of her potty-mouth, she turned out to be one of the most soft-hearted, innocent, sweet heroines I’ve ever written. She was also stronger than I expected her to be. She didn’t need rescue. She rescues herself and the hero besides.

One of the many reasons I’m very proud of that novella!

The Fever of a Phoenix #sixsunday

Sunday, February 12th, 2012

Welcome! Today we’ve got six more sentences of my newly released paranormal erotic romance, The Fever & The Fury

She was heartbreaking to watch. Luke saw her fingers close around the phantom kiss as if to protect a precious and fragile thing. Like a butterfly she’d captured, she drew it to her breast, cupping it with her free hand. He knew she was vulnerable. And yet, there was a blood-pumping, visceral need in him to throw her down and rip off clothing and satisfy himself. He was dangerously out of control.

So, what’s the deal? Luke is a former soldier turned phoenix with the power to consume himself in flames and be born again whenever he dies. The woman of his nightmares? The ancient Fury who has been unleashed by the gods to torment him. But when Phaedra realizes that her usual methods of torture aren’t going to work on a man like Luke, she decides to drive him mad with desire…

I hope that even if you aren’t ready to buy it, you’ll add it to your goodreads To Be Read pile!

A Fury’s First Kiss #sixsunday

Sunday, February 5th, 2012

Welcome! Today we’ve got six more sentences of my newly released paranormal erotic romance, The Fever & The Fury

She stared down at her palm to see the miracle of what he’d just done, but it wasn’t visible to the naked eye and this anguished her, because if she couldn’t see or touch or taste this kiss, how could she ever convince herself that it had actually happened? Her heart suddenly remembered itself, and the world came back in a rush of blood that roared past her ears. “But…but…I could have sent stabbing pains through you when you kissed me. Somehow, you must have known I wouldn’t do it.”

“No, Phaedra,” Luke said, meeting her eyes. “It’s just that some things are worth doing at any price.”

So, what’s the deal? Luke is a former soldier turned phoenix with the power to consume himself in flames and be born again whenever he dies. The woman of his nightmares? The ancient Fury who has been unleashed by the gods to torment him. But when Phaedra realizes that her usual methods of torture aren’t going to work on a man like Luke, she decides to drive him mad with desire… he turns the tables.

The rest is high erotic comedy :P

I hope that even if you aren’t ready to buy it, you’ll add it to your goodreads To Be Read pile!
