A little love for MIDNIGHT MEDUSA

Wednesday, October 14th, 2009

midnight-medusa-thumbOf my two Nocturne Bites, MIDNIGHT MEDUSA has received the least critical attention, so I was delighted when reviewer Cathie Morton sent me her thoughts today. She said in part:

Even though I read this book in April when it was released, [the] emotions that this story brought forth were still with me and so wanted to re-read before writing this review. It is just as beautiful to read now as before and so much more.

Just starting with the first  few paragraphs, you will be absorbed into Renata’s haunting past. With the awesome themes within this story, the reader will want to read even more about [Greek Mythology]. After a second read of this, I’m on a cloud nine [with] the emotions I went through reading this and the growth of the characters that the author Stephanie Draven so brilliantly portrayed as realistic with Damon and Renata.

Wild Tethered Bound Cover ThumbAnother great review

WILD, TETHERED, BOUND, well it rocks! I loved Stephanie’s concept of the beautiful and almost ethereal Dryad, Dessa who is seeking her mate while protecting the forest and all it’s creatures in the fast and super sexy read where supernatural elements intertwine…You will be captivated by Nick and Dessa as their journey starts out with pain and loss and ends with love.

Kristan Higgins Rocks My World

Saturday, September 26th, 2009

too_goodAs a paranormal romance writer, I love fantasy, history, politics, mythology and lore. And most everything I write is dark and heavy. But sometimes, a girl just wants a little sunshine, ya know? That’s why I picked up Kristan Higgins’ “Too Good to Be True.

I admit to being dubious. There was an adorable-but-annoying looking little West Highland terrier on the cover, and though I’m an animal lover, I tend to be hostile towards plotlines that revolve around pets. I was even more dubious when I learned that the leading man was going to be an ex-con. Really? The ex-lawyer in me recoiled.

Then I read on, and, KABLAMMY. I fell in love with the annoying little dog, the ex-con, the sisters, the kooky sculptress mom, and all the rest. The supporting cast are so much more than just cardboard place-holders for confidantes. Higgins breathes quirky life into them all. She reminds me of one of my most favorite authors, wickedly funny-fiction-turned-important-issues-writer Caryl Rivers.

All I have to say is, where has Kristan Higgins been all my life? She’s not only a great storyteller, but a great writer. She’s not only witty–but her prose is sometimes quite beautiful, and it hits you where you live. I devoured this book, and now that it’s over, I’m sad–except that she has a backlist! I promise, I will be buying every last book on it.

They Say I’m Spicy!

Wild, Tethered, Bound - AUG 09.inddOver at Long and Short Romance Reviews, I’ve been rated Spicy and perhaps just short of hawt :P But enough about me. They also seem to have liked WILD TETHERED BOUND…

Stephanie Draven is a new author for me and after reading this book I am ready to read more of her books.

The characters of this book were unbelievable. They were so easy to understand and relate too…even if it has a twist of paranormal to it. The characters were strong and felt like someone you knew. The scenes in this book are intense and very enjoyable.

The complexity of this novel still blows my mind. Ms. Draven has taken so much and pushed it tightly into 59 pages, which is incredible. As a reader you are able to keep up with the plot, you know what is going on, but you have no idea as to what is going to happen next. It’s a great read and one any paranormal fan will love.

Well, thank you reviewer! Now that you’ve already reviewed my book, I won’t seem like a suckup when I thank you for all you do for the genre.

WILD, TETHERED, BOUND can be purchased at eharlequin.com or at Amazon for the Kindle.
